It’s a…

Boy! That was the big news of our 18 week check up and ultrasound. All other news was good, too!

18 week ultrasound

I gained 2 lbs since last month, which is in the normal range of up to 4 lbs. My blood pressure was 104/66, continuing the expected downward trend.

The baby’s healthy and very active. So active, in fact, that I have to go back for another ultrasound next week to get a good picture of his heart, since he wouldn’t hold still. We did see four chambers, and both the technician and doctor stressed that it looked normal and not to worry, they just needed to get a good picture. I’m just happy I get to go back for another ultrasound. We saw his brain, kidneys, stomach, fingers, feet, and the bones were very clear. We ruled out club foot and cleft lip/palate, counted five fingers on each hand, and saw him suck his thumb, clasp his hands, and kick his feet over his head. Our baby boy is about 8″ long and measured at 19 weeks for size, which shows he’s a big boy so far.  The placenta is a healthy size and in the right location, as is the umbilical cord.

Our families were thrilled to hear the news, and now I feel like I can really start planning for our baby boy’s arrival!

    Dear Ed and Ab:

We are overjoyed finding out that we have a little grandson, I am so happy and proud. This experience just keeps getting better and better! It was really nice last night having our families together to hear the news of “it’s a boy”. It seems so much more real now.
You are both just glowing, it’s so cute!!!!
Love and hugs to the 3 of you.

Hooray and congratulations! I’m glad to hear that everything looks good, and that you’re expecting a baby boy. Also, that you get to have another ultrasound. They really are kind of fun, and they make pregnancy seem much more real to me. 🙂

WOW! All I can say is this is a miracle, a dream come true! All the news is good, you are healthy, the baby is healthy and flourishing just as he should, and we can now plan for the arrival of a baby BOY! It does seem much more real as we can talk about “he” and “him.” Ultrasound is so much more reliable and informative than when you were in utero!

I’m enjoying the sparkly blue pumpkin that you made for the grandmas; what a cute, clever idea! I brought mine to school so that when people ask, “What is it?” I can flash the baby blue pumpkin at them!

Thanks for getting all the family together the other night to hear the wonderful news. Your baby boy’s uncles-to-be are pretty darn excited–as are the grandparents!!!!!

    Hugs and love,
    Mom
